Carpenter Ward was called upon for the installation of a bespoke Alfresco kitchen in the garden of a home in Dunblane. The customer’s remit was to design an outdoor room in keeping with externals of the home that could entertain as many as 12 people in all Scottish weathers. The outdoor area was designed in close collaboration with the customer and an enclosed but spacious design was agreed.
The area was firstly cleared, and a concrete slab was poured. The surrounding landscape was then remodelled to give a seamless transition from the garden path to the alfresco kitchen by means of granite stones and edging stones.
The walls and seating area were created in brickwork and rendered and painted in keeping with the original walls of the home. Granite based concrete pours created authentic coping stones in keeping with the surrounding window ledges and a smooth dark granite worktop and seating area was installed to juxtapose against the white pebble-based rendering. Decorative black and white art deco tiles were laid to create a dramatic impact.
The installation of a 3 in 1 boiling tap system and sink unit made for easy cleaning and with the built in 6-burner barbecue and outdoor fridge will definitely keep the guests happy! Soft lighting as well as an automated awning and infrared heating system makes the area usable all year round.
